COMMUNITY PARTNERSWe believe that a strong, healthy community comes from the collaboration of businesses, governments, and community organizations. As a community organization and leadership resource for the state of Rhode Island, we recognize the need to reach out and join forces with our neighbors for the common good. In 2004, LRI announced partnerships with the Worksite Wellness Council of RI and National Neighborhood Day.
Worksite Wellness Council of RILRI and WWCRI share common interests in improving the health and wellness of Rhode Islanders, in taking action on a statewide level, and in making Rhode Island the first Well State in the nation. In order to be named a Well State, a significant number of companies and organizations in the state must make a concerted effort. These organizations are already LRI’s community partners as employers, donors, and companies and organizations where alumni have strong ties. LRI supports WWCRI in four major ways:

National Neighborhood DayLRI came to partner with National Neighborhood Day through its founder and champion, Lorne Adrain ’94. NND’s work to improve the quality of life in communities fits naturally with LRI’s mission. Neighbors have become disconnected in the modern world, and they may not reach out to one another unless someone, some leader, takes that first step. Communities and neighbors can not meet common needs, recognize common challenges, or serve one another well without knowing who these neighbors are.
